Schoolyard Stories is an Australian owned business that was established in 2007. Our aim is to get children excited about reading, writing, illustrating and healthy eating while raising much needed funds for our schools.
With three school aged children, I found it frustrating, constantly selling junk food and raffle tickets. Our unique storybook idea encourages the love of reading and writing, while providing families with a high quality book that will become a cherished keepsake. It is simple for the fundraising committee to run and requires minimal effort from parents. With every student represented, the book will sell itself.
Being a primary school teacher I have a good understanding of how difficult it is to fit everything into an already demanding curriculum. The flexibility of this project allows teachers to simply slip the task into any literacy session or allow children to take their rough drafts home to revise them as part of a homework activity.
We also understand how valuable parent volunteer time is. Although school cookbooks are not a new idea, we make it simple by providing easy to use preformatted templates. Our templates allow families to type up their own recipes while keeping the format uniform throughout the book. There is even room for children to illustrate their recipes or clip art for those reluctant to do so.
We thank you for your interest and hope you will choose to publish with Schoolyard Stories.
